Maths Challenge 2026

The Maths Challenge is a school wide challenge for our Tamariki to be the best we can be with basic facts and times tables. This is an opportunity to support them learn, consolidate and quickly recall vital maths knowledge, and to raise money for our junior playground.

MATHS CHALLENGE SUGGESTIONS BY YEAR

Year 0-1

  • Number bonds to 10. (eg. 3+4= 7+3= 6+2=)
  • Doubles to 20 (eg. 6+6= 8+8= 9+9= )
  • Numbers in Maori up to 20

Year 2

  • 2x, 10x, 5x tables

Year 3-4

  • Choose 3 sets of timestables that you need to memorise – (3x 4x 6x 7x 8x 9x 11x 12x)

Year 5-6

  • Choose 3 sets of timestables and division that you need to memorise – (3x 4x 6x 7x 8x 9x 11x 12x)

Year 7-8

  • Know all times tables and division up to 12.
  • How quickly can you complete the multiplication grid?
  • Race your parents/siblings
  • Make it a time challenge!

  • FRIDAY, 16 OCTOBER – THE MATHS CHALLENGE CLOSES.
  • FRIDAY, 23 OCTOBER – FINAL PRIZEGIVING

FAQ’s

Where can I find the link to set up my child/ren’s fundraising page? Go to our Fundraising Hub page at: https://seatounbasicfactathon.raiseit.co.nz/ – there is also a link to this on the Seatoun School website.

Is the donation dependent on my child completing the challenge:  Our fundraising is based on participation, not achievement. We want every student to feel encouraged and able to get involved. Sponsorships will be acknowledging the students efforts in taking part.

Multiple children in your family? No problem, all children can sit under the same email address. You’ll find a button to set up another page while logged in to the fundraising account you created first.

Do I have to sign up for an online account to fundraise? We would love everyone to have an online account as this allows the school to significantly reduce administration overheads. Go Raise It adhere to strict cyber safe guidelines and this is built into our fundraising website. If you really do not want an online fundraising page, and still want to participate please email foss@seatoun.school.nz
